Franklin Lofts Condos

FRANKLIN LOFTS 111 East Franklin Avenue, Minneapolis These lofts were converted from an early postwar office building. So it is subtly different from the usual industrial-loft conversion. The existing building is a much newer structure, and expressed as International Style modernism on the exterior—rare for housing of any type. Aluminum windows are larger than typical apartment windows, and they are more polished, a little more domestic in feeling, than the steel, industrial-sash windows of converted manufacturing buildings. Living spaces are a lofty 13-feet high, though again, a bit more domestic in feeling than industrial loft spaces. The living units are compact, ranging from less than 700 square feet to over 1,100, but not tiny like the norms in bigger cities like Manhattan. Franklin Lofts is two blocks from the Art Institute and a 10-minute walk from the edge of Downtown.
