THE CHICAGO LOFTS 2929 Chicago Avenue S. These 32 condos are located on the 9th-17th floors of the revitalized 1928 Sears tower, an Art Deco landmark on the outside and once an unremittingly industrial environment within. The refurbishment made a virtue of the poured-concrete floors, ceilings, and columns, which have been cleaned and sealed, and provide a strong, soundproof envelope for the living units. The overall development and the Sears building itself are mixed-use to an extent rarely seen in suburban areas of the city. In addition to the loft condos, this structure also includes 219 apartments on floors 2-8, the Global Market on the main floor, and corporate offices for Allina Health in the north wing.
