The Tower 1200 Mall

1200 ON THE MALL 1200 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis This was the wildly successful, pioneering Minneapolis condominium, the centerpiece of the city's much-acclaimed Loring Park redevelopment in the mid-1970s. 1200 on the Mall occupies a unique site, where the recently revitalized Loring Greenway meets the Nicollet Mall, right across from the Hyatt Regency Hotel. So this is not located close to Downtown; it is literally in Downtown—yet set among lush greenery along a beautifully landscaped, car-free pedestrian connection to Loring Park designed by the nationally prominent landscape architect M. Paul Friedberg. The building and its residential units have maintained their original qualities over the past three decades. Even so, common areas have recently been refurbished, as have many of the condominium units. 1225 LASALLE 1225 LaSalle Avenue, Minneapolis In response to the overwhelming market success of 1200 on the Mall, 1225 LaSalle was built as its next phase the following year; both buildings were designed by the noted Minneapolis architect James Stageberg. Rather than a mid-rise configuration like 1200 on the Mall, 1225 LaSalle is expressed as a tower; upper floors offer especially spectacular views from within the high-rise environment of Downtown. With this central location, residents can walk everywhere: to jobs, shopping, Orchestra Hall, Walker Art Center, the Hennepin Theater District, and dozens of restaurants.
