Coon-rapids

Coon Rapids Real Estate

The largest city in Anoka County and among the biggest in the state, Coon Rapids is about 15 miles north of Minneapolis along the Mississippi River. U.S. Highway 10 and state highways 47 and 610 serve the city, as does the Northstar Commuter Rail, which opened in 2009 and connects the city and other northern suburbs to Downtown Minneapolis. The Coon Rapids Dam is a historically important part of the city, its construction for power generation in the early 1900s bringing in the workers who jumpstarted the city’s growth. Today, the dam is part of the Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park, a 160-acre gem that provides easy access to the Mississippi River. According to a recent survey by the National Research Center, Coon Rapids residents give the city high marks, with more than eight in 10 reporting they plan to remain in the city and would recommend it to others.
