Nicollet Island

As its name implies, Nicollet Island – which is just to the north of Saint Anthony Falls – is surrounded by the water of the Mississippi River and accessed by the Hennepin Avenue Bridge that connects Downtown and Northeast Minneapolis. While the island is historically important in Native American culture, the late 1840s marked the first time development occurred there. Nicollet Island Park, which features the popular Nicollet Island Pavilion, is among the island’s prominent features, along with the Nicollet Island Inn and DeLaSalle High School.
