Richfield

Richfield Real Estate

Back before it was a city, Richfield was extraordinarily productive farmland. That’s how it got its name. Richfield became a city in 1908, but it wasn’t until a few decades later – just after World War II – that its population really boomed. Conveniently located west of the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, north of Interstate 494 and south of Highway 62 (and with Interstate 35W running north and south through the city), Richfield has experienced continuous redevelopment as the city focuses on attracting and retaining residents and remaining economically vital. For just more than a decade, Richfield has been home to Best Buy, the largest electronics retailer in the United States and the city’s leading employer. The city also has hundreds of acres of parks and green space, including the 150-acre Wood Lake Nature Center, which was one of the state’s first municipal nature centers and today gives people the opportunity to learn about the environment and see wildlife.
