The northwestern metro suburb of Rogers has experienced explosive growth in the past couple decades, its population increasing by 414 percent from 1990 to 2000, and by 140 percent from 2000 to 2010. Today, about 12,000 people call Rogers home. Interstate 94 cuts through the heart of the city – which was named “Best Place to Raise Kids in Minnesota” by Bloomberg Businessweek – giving residents easy access to the Twin Cities as well as points north and west. The city has been working to redevelop its historic downtown area, and there also are massive new developments planned in Rogers. One of them is called Laurel Creek, which will include a variety of home styles on 316 acres of land on the city’s southeastern side. More than half of the development’s land will be open space.
