University, Prospect Park, and Como

Neighborhoods

If ever there were a neighborhood where the sense of place is noteworthy, it’s Prospect Park, which butts up against St. Paul, the University of Minnesota, the Mississippi River and railroad tracks and an industrial park. Located on the eastern edge of Minneapolis, the University and Como neighborhoods are heavily influenced by the University of Minnesota. The University neighborhood sits on both sides of the Mississippi River and largely constitutes the campus of the University of Minnesota.

The Como neighborhood – known sometimes as Southeast Como in part so people can differentiate it from St. Paul’s Como neighborhood – includes many busy roads owing in part to its proximity to the University, yet it also includes an abundance of tree-lined, quiet residential streets.
